Website and Course Disclaimer
Last updated: September 2026
This Disclaimer applies to the website, online courses, videos, downloads, support calls, social-media content and other educational materials provided by Elly Lindsay, (“we”, “us” or “our”).
Please read this Disclaimer carefully before using our website, purchasing a Course or participating in any of the practices we provide.
1. Educational and self-help information
The information and practices provided through our website and courses are intended for general educational and self-help purposes.
They are designed to support your understanding of jaw tension, temporomandibular joint (“TMJ”) symptoms, facial discomfort, myofascial release, body awareness and nervous-system regulation.
They are not intended to provide individual medical, dental, psychological or other healthcare advice.
2. Not medical diagnosis or treatment
Nothing provided through our website, Course, support call, emails, social-media content or other materials is intended to:
-
diagnose a medical, dental, psychological or other health condition;
-
prescribe or recommend medical or dental treatment;
-
replace an assessment by an appropriately qualified healthcare professional;
-
advise you to begin, change or discontinue prescribed treatment or medication; or
-
provide emergency medical advice.
Purchasing or participating in a Course does not create a doctor-patient, dentist-patient, therapist-client or other clinical relationship between you and us.
Although Elly Lindsay is a qualified myofascial release therapist, the Course and support call are educational services and are not a substitute for individual assessment, diagnosis or treatment.
3. Seek appropriate professional advice
You should consult an appropriately qualified doctor, dentist, physiotherapist or other healthcare professional if:
-
you are uncertain whether a practice is suitable for you;
-
you have unexplained, severe, worsening or persistent symptoms;
-
you have recently experienced injury, surgery or trauma affecting your head, face, mouth, jaw or neck;
-
you have significant swelling, infection, unexplained bleeding or an open wound;
-
your jaw locks or you experience a significant change in your bite;
-
you have difficulty opening or closing your mouth;
-
you experience altered sensation, facial weakness, dizziness or other neurological symptoms;
-
you are pregnant and have concerns about whether a practice is appropriate;
-
you have a medical condition that may affect your ability to participate safely; or
-
a healthcare professional has advised you to avoid self-massage, myofascial release, intraoral work, breathwork or similar practices.
Do not delay seeking professional advice because of information provided through our website or Course.
4. Emergencies
Our website, Course, email service and support calls are not monitored or designed for medical emergencies.
If you experience severe or sudden symptoms, difficulty breathing or swallowing, signs of a serious allergic reaction, significant trauma or any other symptom that may require urgent attention, contact the appropriate emergency service or urgent healthcare provider.
In the United Kingdom, call 999 in an emergency or contact NHS 111 where urgent medical advice is required but the situation is not life-threatening.
5. Safe participation
You are responsible for deciding whether and how to participate in the Course practices.
You agree to:
-
read and follow the safety guidance provided;
-
work within a comfortable range;
-
avoid forcing any movement or technique;
-
use clean hands and appropriate hygiene for intraoral practices;
-
stop if you experience sharp, severe, unusual or increasing pain; and
-
seek appropriate professional advice if you experience concerning symptoms or a significant worsening of your condition.
Do not perform intraoral techniques if you have an active infection, open wound, unexplained bleeding, recent dental or oral surgery, or another reason a healthcare or dental professional has advised against them.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have a safe and suitable environment in which to practise.
6. Individual circumstances and results
Every person is different. Your experience of the Course may be affected by factors including:
-
the cause, severity and duration of your symptoms;
-
your general health and medical history;
-
previous injuries or treatment;
-
the frequency and consistency of your practice;
-
your individual response to the techniques; and
-
factors outside our knowledge or control.
We do not promise or guarantee that the Course will eliminate pain, resolve a health condition, improve jaw function or produce any other particular physical, emotional or personal result.
A lack of improvement does not necessarily mean that you have performed the techniques incorrectly.
7. Temporary responses to practice
Some people may notice temporary changes in sensation or symptoms when trying a new self-help practice. However, you should not assume that pain or worsening symptoms are a necessary or desirable part of the process.
Stop the relevant practice if you experience significant discomfort, sharp or increasing pain, numbness, dizziness, faintness, unexpected swelling, bleeding, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or any symptom that concerns you.
Obtain appropriate healthcare advice before resuming the practice where necessary.
8. One-to-one support call
The optional one-to-one support call included with the Course is intended to:
-
answer questions about the Course content;
-
clarify the practices demonstrated;
-
discuss your experience of participating in the Course; and
-
support you in applying the educational material.
The support call is not a clinical consultation, medical or dental assessment, diagnosis or treatment appointment.
We may recommend that you stop a practice or seek advice from an appropriate healthcare professional where a question falls outside the scope of the Course or raises a possible health or safety concern.
You should not use the support call to seek emergency help or submit urgent medical information.
9. Testimonials and participant experiences
Testimonials, reviews, case studies and participant experiences describe the experiences of particular individuals.
They are provided for illustrative purposes only and do not represent a promise, prediction or guarantee that you will achieve the same or similar results.
Where a testimonial has been shortened or edited for clarity, we will take reasonable care not to change its meaning.
10. Accuracy and changes to information
We take reasonable care to provide information that is accurate and appropriate at the time it is published.
However, knowledge, professional guidance and research relating to health, pain and self-care may develop over time. Information may therefore be updated, corrected or removed where appropriate.
We do not guarantee that every piece of general information will be complete or suitable for every person or circumstance.
The publication date or most recent update date should be considered when relying on any website article, video, social-media post or downloadable resource.
11. External links and third-party information
Our website or Course may include links or references to third-party websites, products, services, research or resources.
These links are provided for convenience or further information. Unless expressly stated otherwise, their inclusion does not mean that we control, endorse or accept responsibility for the third party or its information, products, services, availability, security or privacy practices.
You should exercise your own judgement and review the relevant terms and privacy policies before using a third-party website or service.
12. Social-media content
Information shared through our social-media accounts is general educational content and may be abbreviated because of the format in which it is presented.
Social-media posts and responses to comments or messages should not be treated as personalised health advice or relied upon as a substitute for professional assessment.
We cannot assess your individual health circumstances through a public comment or brief social-media message.
13. Your responsibility
You remain responsible for:
-
your decision to purchase and participate in the Course;
-
providing accurate information where you request support;
-
following the safety instructions provided;
-
recognising the limits of general online information;
-
seeking appropriate professional advice where needed; and
-
deciding whether a particular practice is suitable for your circumstances.
Nothing in this Disclaimer means that you are responsible for harm caused by our negligence or removes any legal rights available to you.
14. Limitation of liability
Nothing in this Disclaimer excludes or restricts liability where doing so would be unlawful. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and your statutory consumer rights.
Subject to those protections, we are not responsible for harm or loss caused by:
-
disregarding the safety information or contraindications provided;
-
forcing, misusing or materially altering a demonstrated technique;
-
continuing a practice despite significant pain or concerning symptoms;
-
providing inaccurate or incomplete information when requesting support;
-
using general Course information instead of seeking appropriate medical or dental attention; or
-
circumstances that were not reasonably foreseeable and were outside our reasonable control.
This Disclaimer must be read together with our Online Course Terms and Conditions. If there is an inconsistency concerning your legal rights as a purchaser, the Terms and Conditions and applicable consumer law will take priority.
